My buddy Dan Napoli’s video series, Artifact, chronicling the 2010 professional paintball season just came out with their year end feature, which includes a bunch of my photography from back in the day of Chicago Aftershock. It’s kind of weird to think that I might be one of the only people that actually has photographs from when Aftershock had guys like Danny Love, Mikey Bruno, Ryan Williams, Kenny Klamper and Billy Ceranski playing for them. That those games, those events, some of which are almost 10 years old now, aren’t just ancient history, but a forgotten story.

In 2009 I had the privilege of spending about two weeks in Tokyo photographing the 2009 Cycle Messenger World Championship. I found the city and the people I met there to be amazing and I left with a lot of friends and a real love to the Japanese messenger community.

As we all know Japan was hit with a devastating earthquake followed by a tsunami last week. Much of the country is in ruins, thousands are homeless and every day the death toll rises.
It’s a shocking, horrifying moment and there are relief efforts under way around the world to send aid and support to Japan. Below are some links to places where you can help provide aid.
- Apple has set up a page in its iTunes store where users can donate to relief efforts in increments of $5, $10, $25, $50, $100 and $200. All proceeds go to the American Red Cross.
- Donors who want to give directly to the American Red Cross can do so at its website, or by texting “redcross” to 90999 to make a $10 gift. The organization is assisting the Japanese Red Cross, and providing shelter to those displaced by the tsunami in American regions such as Hawaii and the Pacific Northwest.
- Doctors Without Borders is sending three-person teams to those areas most adversely effected by the disaster. Donations are accepted at the NGO’s website.
- The Salvation Army is accepting donations from their website, via telephone (1-800-SAL-ARMY) or via text message by sending “Japan” or “Quake” to 80888 to make a $10 donation. The group is sending a team to Japan to provide nourishment, aid and assistance

Couple weeks ago I did some photography behind the scenes at the 2011 DNC Winter Meeting. For three days I battled hotel conference room lighting, which is both harsh and very dim, as well as a sea of beige walls. I’m pretty pleased with how things turned out. There are more photos and Democrats Blog here.

Been doing some edits and cataloging of what I shot over the 2010 mid-term elections. I’m happy with how it went and will be posting outtakes and unreleased photos here from time to time.

Ten of my photographs from this last year have just been featured by the Democratic Party on their site as a part of the year in review. The photographs, ranging from the Presidents celebratory speech after the passage of health-care reform to the signing of the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, cover a year of work I’ve done for the DNC and Organizing for America.
You can view the origional blog post on Democrats.org here: www.democrats.org/news/blog/a_year_in_pictures

He was a really good chef, he could fix a bike and he always had a fancier knife than me.
I’m tired of losing friends, but I’m really glad to have known each and every one of them.
Go easy buddy. You’re missed.

So I ran across this photo on flickr of my book “Delivery” with a set of prints I donated for a silent auction a couple years ago. I guess the guy who won the bid on the prints also picked up the book.

That’s pretty cool.
The book is still available for purchase here:

Also out there for sale is the 2011 TyK-B Calendar, which just came out a week ago or so. It’s a charity for the Chicago Women’s Heath Center and I did all the photography for the Men’s calendar.

You can get the calendar here: thoughtyouknew.us/buy-now/
And I’m selling limited edition prints from the calendar. Each print is from the gallery show of a few weeks ago and is in a edition of one. You can get those here: chrisdilts.bigcartel.com/
Also still available is the COG Magazine Photo Annual, which came out a while ago. I have work in it, as well as in back issues of COG that are still for sale.

You can pick up a copy here: store.cogmag.com/product/photo-annual-01 and back issues of the magazine here: store.cogmag.com

Over the weekend, in addition to having a calendar launch and gallery show, I had the pleasure of photographing an exhibit by and luncheon with acclaimed B&B Italia designer Jeffrey Bernett at Luminaire in Chicago. He’s an exceptional designer and his work with B&B Italia is really amazing.
