Seasons Beatings 23.12.2009

So Kelly and I just got back from Puerto Rico last night and I’ll be sorting through the epic amount of photos I shot there over the holiday. One day back in Chicago to wrap up christmas shopping and then I’m on the Greyhound tomorrow for Indianapolis to see the folks for Christmas.

The  weekend before I helped out at (as well as racing in and placing DFL) Augie Montes and Nico Deportago-Cabrera’s Seasons Beatings alleycat and weekend of mayhem. The race was part of the continuing effort to raise money for the Tokyo Bicycle Messenger Association, which took on a substantial debt  (about $34000 natch) putting on the 2009 Cycle Messenger World Championship.

To help raise money to support the TKBMA the International Bicycle Messenger Federation has organized a bit of an intercity competition, the Tokyo Fundraiser Cup, to see who can raise the most. Right now there has been over $8000 raised and the city leading is, you guessed it, Chicago.

The event more or less took place over three days, starting with a late night sprint race and afterparty, the actual alleycat and then afterparty and then an all day brunch/dance party/destroy Josh Tripps house. Not just Chicago was in effect – Matt and Jeff from Philly actually flew here to sleep on my couch and do the poker race.

Chrome, who threw down prizes for the race, just put up some of the photos Allison Peck and I shot during the weekend over on their blog:
