CMWC Tokyo: Second House 11.10.2009
So while we were in Tokyo for the CMWC, just after the first open forum, we discovered that my roommate Allison’s headset was shot – missing and wrong sized bearings, lack of grease, just kind of a mess. Andy did his best to fix it with what we had, but we quickly realized that it wasn’t working.

He had seen a bike shop around the corner, so Allison, Andy Christina and I headed down to what turned out to be Second House, and really amazing shop packed with vintage Keirin frames and NJS parts, as well as strange and awesome t-shirts and random stuff.

The owner, Tommy, wasn’t in so his wife, who was working but didn’t speak much English, gave him a call and he came down and rebuilt Allison’s headset at no charge. It was pretty cool. And, while looking around the shop I discovered that they carried COG, which was the first time I had seen a copy in Japan. I managed to explain that I shot for them and showed them some of my photos, and took a bunch of the shop. Tommy and his wife were really awesome people and I was really psyched to have met them.

Second House Tokyo
So then the other day I was looking back over a bunch of stuff I had brought back from Tokyo and hit up the Second House Blog and discovered that they had written about our visit, complete with cell phone pictures of us fixing Allison’s bike and a link to my site. Pretty cool.
You can check the Second House Blog here. Hopefully you read Japanese . . .
